It’s a beautiful sunset in Jerusalem. Food is served this night, but this is not about food. All sit around the table in anticipation. Emotions are high and what’s next is uncertain. “Take, eat, this is my body” says Jesus, breaking bread with his apostles before his crucifixion. “This is my blood,” he says, sharing wine one last time on earth.

At this dramatic moment, the room is filled with wonder, sadness, confusion and fear. But they all know, this is the supper for the soul, the foundation of all blessings the Lord himself offered to us all.
Steve’s ‘Play’ On The Last Supper
For most of my life I ate a minimum of three times a day: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
On Sundays I often went to an all-you-can-eat Brunch.
For most, ‘dinner’ and ‘supper’ are interchangeable. Others say ‘dinner’ is more formal.
I have ‘dinner’. My evening meal. Unless I am having my last dinner. Which I call a ‘Last Supper’.
In honor of the Last Supper Jesus had with his disciples. In honor of da Vinci’s famous painting.

Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” is a mural painting depicting the biblical Last Supper, a scene from the Gospel of John where Jesus announces that one of his apostles will betray him. The painting, housed in the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, is renowned for its masterful use of perspective, depiction of human emotion, and dynamic composition. It’s considered a pivotal work in the transition to the High Renaissance.
For me a Last Supper is a very special event.
It’s a R-E-B-I-R-T-H. A death to the old, and a birth to the new.
I am giving up the evils of the flesh and focusing on the good of the spirit.
No more smoking. No more drinking. No more dancing.
No more fun.
So of course I must go out with a B-A-N-G. One last debauchery. One last gluttonous feast.
My ‘Last Supper’ (no, I’m not being executed)
1. Drinks either Champagne or cocktails prior to
2. Soup – we go places where they make there own – a favorite place in Cleveland we often ate was Tick Tock Tavern, but we had a favorite wherever we lived and we lived in a lot of places
3. Hors d’oeuvres – tapas, for example
4. Appetizers – 2 or 3
5- Salad
6. Main course meat, chicken or fish. Or animal-free equivalent. Plus a starch (pasta, rice or potato) and a vegetable
7. Dessert – or two
8. Coffee
9. After dinner drinks with of course copious amounts of beer and/or wine during this 7-course Last Supper
The hangovers could be life threatening. Or not. Depending on so many variables.
“Those were the days, my friend. I thought they would never end.” But, of course, they did.
We started eating healthier. And then, not so much alcohol. And so on and so on.
Now I eat once a day. A 4-hour window from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
HOWEVER, a Last Supper is still a Last Supper.
I am now mulling over my LAST Last Supper again. The Ultimate Last Supper, so to speak – which means I ate a huge amount during those four hours – each day thinking this would be my last time.
Tonight, instead of counting sheep, I will further refine my NEXT, my LAST, my ULTIMATE ‘Last Supper’.
I will of course keep you posted. Up to date. Stay tuned!
Steve, The Last Supper Guy
P.S. Of course it’s all animal-free.
